It's glory for Rhys as he is crowned club champ

RHYS Lindquist is the club champion at Carmarthen Golf Club.

Lindquist lifted the DR Evans Cup following a great morning round of 68 and an afternoon score of 75 for a total of 143.

He won by two strokes from Tom Williams, who returned two steady rounds of 73 and 72, for an aggregate of 145.

In third place was Ian Marks with a gross score of 146 (74+72).

The Chairman's Bowl was a closely fought affair with the top three all returning net scores of 138, Ian Marks receiving trophy on countback from Ian Elias in second and Thomas Bryan in third.

On the previous Saturday, the Men's Open Stableford was played, with 113 competitors.

Young Kieran James, a home club junior, took first spot on countback from Ray Harley, both with excellent scores of 44. Alex James with 38 claimed third place, again on countback, from John Dive and David H Thomas.

The ladies played for the Dolly Ashley-Jones Cup and Rebecca Robinson saw her handicap reduced to 26.6 when winning the cup with a net score of 71. Eileen James was second with 75 from Ann Morris in third with a net 77.

The Knights Section played for the Eric Thomas Cup and Bryan Hurley won with 42 and saw his handicap reduced to 25. Second place went to Gary Thomas with 36, with John Jones (35) in third.
