FIRST visited second in the Dinefwr Ladies' Bowls League — and leaders Ammanford lost 31-20 to chasing Stradey.

Ammanford claimed two points when skip Rosina Smith survived a last-end scare, eventually winning her rink 14-13 after Stradey had captured two last-end scoring woods and forced a measure on another.

Ammanford still have a ten-point lead over Stradey, with Carmarthen in third after they won 30-17 at Merched Tybie.

Mair Evans easily clocked up a brace of Carmarthen points on rink two via her 20-6 triumph. The rink one battle went down to the wire.

Carmarthen skip Jean Taylor was trailing 11-9 at the start of the last end, but after several deliveries was holding two shots. However, experienced Tybie skip Doreen Evans took one of those woods out, leaving Taylor one bowl short of a draw.
